Tussin plus

Mucolytic, expectorant and antitussive agent
Composition:
Guaifenesin 100 mg/5 ml, Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide 10 mg/5 ml.

Pharmacologic property:
Guaifenesin produces an expectorant effect by increasing the secretion of thin bronchial mucus components, depolymerization of acid mucopolysaccharides, and increasing activity of ciliated epithelium. Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide inhibits excessively intensive afferent impulses from the mucous membrane of the respiratory tract, raises the tussive threshold and reduces intensity of the dry, irritating cough. Dextromethorphan is a D-isomer of levorphanol, and by its activity it is similar to codeine, however it has no analgesic properties and does not suppress the activity of ciliated epithelium. The duration of the antitussive effect is 5 to 6 hours. Glycerin and Corn Syrup produce a soothing effect upon the pharyngeal mucous membrane.

Indication and usage:
Relieves cough that results from the irritation of throat and bronchi caused by flu or colds. Liquefies sputum and facilitates its evacuation from the respiratory tract.

Dosage form:
Syrup
