Pharmacologic property:
Phenylephrine Hydrochloride is an agonist of a-adrenergic receptors (a sympathomimetic) and causes vasoconstriction by stimulating -a-receptors in the mucous membranes of the respiratory tract. From a clinical viewpoint, Phenylephrine reduces swelling of mucous membranes and hyperemia of tissues, relieves nasal congestion and augments nasal patency.
Indication and usage:
To make nasal breathing easier in case of colds, flu, hay fever or other upper respiratory allergies accompanied by acute rhinitis or sinusitis; acute otitis media (as an auxiliary remedy).
