 Theraflex M
Yellowish-white viscous cream with the odor of camphor and menthol |
Composition:
1 g of cream contains: Glucosamine Hydrochloride 3 mg (0.3%), Chondroitin Sulfate 8 mg (0.8%), Camphor 32 mg (3.2%), Peppermint Oil 9 mg (0.9%);
Pharmacologic property:
Chondroitin Sulfate is a high-molecular mucopolysaccharide involved in the construction of cartilaginous tissue. It suppresses the activity of the enzymes that destroy articular cartilage, and stimulates its regeneration. At early stages of the inflammatory process Chondroitin Sulfate suppresses its activity and thus slows down the degeneration of cartilaginous tissue. It helps decrease intensity of the pain syndrome and improve the function of joints, lowers the need for non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Glucosamine Hydrochloride has chondroprotective properties, reduces the deficiency of glycosaminoglycanes in the body, participates in the biosynthesis of proteoglycanes and hyaluronic acid. Having tropism to cartilaginous tissue, Glucosamine Hydrochloride initiates the process of sulfur fixation in the synthesis of chondroitin sulfuric acid. Glucosamine Hydrochloride selectively acts on articular cartilage, it is a specific substrate and a stimulator of the synthesis of hyaluronic acid and proteoglycanes, suppresses formation of superoxide radicals and enzymes that damage cartilaginous tissue (collagenase and phospholipase), prevents the destroying action of glucocorticoids on chondrocytes and the disturbance of the biosynthesis of glycosaminoglycanes induced by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Camphor, when administered topically, irritates sensitive nerve endings of the skin and subcutaneous tissues, dilates superficial blood vessels, causes the sensation of heat, improves blood supply of the skin and subcutaneous tissues, and produces a moderate antiseptic effect. Peppermint Oil, when administered topically, produces a moderate antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, anesthetic and distracting effect. When administered topically, Chondroitin and Glucosamine are absorbed from the surface of the skin and then, by lymphogenous and, partially, hematogenous route, they get to the tissues of the near cartilages and joints owing to their tropism to articular and cartilaginous tissue. Being applied to the skin, Camphor and components of Peppermint Oil partially evaporate into the air, and partially are metabolized in skin cells.
Indication and usage:
Degenerative-dystrophic illnesses of joints and spine (including primary and secondary osteoarthrosis, osteochondrosis, vertebral spondylosis). Also used as a symptomatic anesthetic for bruises, sprains, traumas, and radiculitis.
